Fun projects on the side?

Been having many weird project ideas I wish to pursue, but just don't know which one to start first. Noting them down so it will serve as a good reminder:

1. Fabricate an ancient pre-war radio!

What's this? Well, I don't know about you, but I enjoy oldies and pre-war music, and so I thought it might be interesting to hear them from an old, battered but still functioning-looking radio! You know, the ones from the pre-war 1900s to 1940s; made out of wood, shaped like a sturdy box, with sack cloth covering the speaker holes, and shiny knob dials to change the frequencies and the occasional static sounds.. Yes, the radio I am aiming to build must look and sound like that, but aha.. hidden inside will be an mp3 player and an old set of PC speakers to mimic the ancient radio noise, plus all the oldie songs and ancient country music! Where do I start?! Look for some wood perhaps?

2. Erm, darn... can't seem to remember any now. Will add on to this post when I feel more inspired!

Later!

Something else during my free time!

Guten-tag!

Here's something to fill a post;

A while back, well, a day before my birthday, I attended the Asian CyberGames Tournament for GTI Racing at the ComiWorld 2007 Exhibition. You might remember seeing it at The Curve, Bandar Utama.

Anyway, here's the link and info to how I did:

Also, some acknowledgements:

To David Khaw and Vincent Tan,
Both supported me in the tournament to keep fighting for the victory, and also David for, helping out in analysing the competition, and being my virtual mechanic! Haha. You know what I mean David! Thanks.

To Roy Siew,
My brother who was the one who encouraged me to join in the tournament and supported me in keeping to the fight! Thanks.

Enjoy!

The Job Story so Far...

Well, it has been a struggle and a challenge in job-seeking;
The mindset of being a perfectionist when creating each line of the resume, striking a balance between statement of facts and exaggerations, and then the adrenaline rush before the interview session.

So far, I have sent my resume to the following organisations: UMW Toyota, Nissan/Edaran TanChong, Ford Malaysia, BAT, Cycle&Carriage Bintang, Mitsubishi Motors, and most recently, Standard Chartered Malaysia.

Only two reponded: Nissan and StanChart. Had an interview with Nissan about a month ago. Interviewed by the Marketing Division GM. Found it to feel more like a pleasant afternoon chat. No further response yet though.

StanChart on the other hand, quite encouraging for now.

Seems like a 3-4 stage interview for StanChart. "Banking Apprenticeship Programme". It started off as a phone interview from OSR Consultants, an outsourced hiring company, followed by a one-on-one interview the following day. Not really, the interviewer had a 'silent assassin' sitting next to me.
Now, I have 3 days to go to prepare for the 3rd stage: Panel Interview! 5 vs 1 interview session. Going to prepare even harder for this one.

Auf Wiedersehen!

Now What?

Well, the exams are all over now. Surrendered the student passcards too. No more Monash priveleges, no more journals to read off Emerald, and. . . no more disgusting cafeteria food! (Not that I'm actually picky about their food).

Now, comes a set of questions; How much break time I'm going to take? Which area of my life requires refinement? How do I approach each day now? What pursuits have I put on hold all the while? What about my career now? Hmm.

There's pressure on getting into the workplace quick. Then there are pieces of advice gathered, that a long break is better first. Whatever effect it might have, I believe the answer is moderation; so for now, the break time is set at 2 months.

Many pursuits I have longed to take on, and now have the chance to do so; Getting the chance to listen to all the audio seminars by Brian Tracy, going swimming, repairing my damaged bike, contemplating between learning French or German, hmmm or Finnish(what help will this be?). Haha. And more.

Resume building project is on the move now. I got a set of seven books on resumes, and have begun to learn one at a time. Oh deary me, oh happy day.

Well, the next post will be on one of the pursuits I have chosen to take on and accomplish.
